Maky Photos

Privacy

Last updated: 31 October 2026

Your photos, videos and comments stay on your own devices and those of the people you share them with. This page lists the little information we do handle.

It covers the Maky Photos app for iPhone and Android, including its test versions, and this website.

Who we are

We, the makers of Maky Photos, are responsible for the information described here (the "controller" under the GDPR, the European privacy law). You can reach us at contact@getmaky.app.

What we don't have

Your albums, photos, videos, comments, reactions, name and profile picture are kept only on your devices and those of the people in your albums, end-to-end encrypted. We have no copy and can't open them. You don't need an email address, phone number or password.

What the people in your albums see

Because devices connect to each other directly, the devices of the people in your albums also receive your device's internet address (IP address). The app doesn't show it to them.

What we and others handle

Why we may use this information

How long we keep it

Only as long as needed for its purpose: logs for a short time, for security; the website's visit details, with shortened addresses, at most six months, and only the totals after that; reports until they are handled. Longer only when the law requires it.

Where it is handled

Our servers are in the European Union. Apple and Google may handle notification addresses outside the EU, with the safeguards the GDPR requires.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, and to correct, delete or stop using it, or to receive a copy. Deleting your data in the app removes what is on your devices. For anything else, email contact@getmaky.app. You can also complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or the one in your own country.

Children

Maky is meant for people aged 16 and over. Younger children may use it with permission from a parent or guardian.

Changes

If we change this policy, we update it here and change the date at the top. If a change matters for how your information is handled, we also say so in the app.
